Nutshell of 2017

Life is chaos.

As of last Wednesday, we've had a first grader! Timmy's going to be 7 at the end of the month! And he's seriously got such an attitude lately. He understands and uses reverse psychology...he's part of the generation that's growing up with technology and screens (which is absolutely our fault!) and it's crazy! He learns so much from YouTube, but he also picks up the attitude from YouTubers. He's wants to have his own YouTube channel...umm, no. We're struggling to find a balance between discipline and positive reinforcement...I feel like I'm always the "bad cop."

Levi will be starting Pre-K tomorrow, which he's absolutely thrilled about! He's felt so left out that Timmy's been in school and he hasn't. He'll just have two full days a week (Tuesday and Thursday) and I'm a little nervous to see how he handles 7 hours of school. He eats his food so slowly, but he's not as picky as others. He looks so much like Drew, seriously his mini! He's Timmy's shadow, but naturally isn't up to speed because he's 2 years younger...they love each other so much though, I hope to see that flourish more in the upcoming years.

Vincent Charles (who showed up on his due date: October 6th) will be 11 months in two days! Which means he's practically a year old! God, how time has flown! He's a great baby, a little spoiled somehow. He adores his big brothers, Levi's definitely the favorite though. He was sleeping through the nights for a minute, but then he started cutting a bunch of teeth and now he wakes up twice a night. He started walking just after he turned 10 months, August 10th I think...and watching him walk around is just the most entertaining thing, like a drunk monkey. He looks just like Timmy, only with more hair than Timmy had at this age.

After a lot of consideration, Drew quit the casino to take an on-call cook job at the Eastern State Hospital. They promised him 40 hours a week, and he felt there's more potential there. So far, he loves it. It's a new challenge and it's not the same disaster the casino is. At the casino, the kitchen was down 7 cooks, but they didn't care because Drew picked up the slack. He worked 60 hour weeks, on salary, so essentially 20 hours he was working for free. I'm excited for him now. He's got more time to himself, so he's been taking up golf. It's a little strange though, because I've never known Drew to not be working at the casino.

My work life has been a struggle. I only work 3 days a week in a little, hole in the wall bar of the casino. But my friend/bartender Fanny got let go in January...then they replaced her with a perky 25 year old, Tara, which took me a while to get used to...but she recently quit for an office job...so now Rick is my new bartender. They also did some remodeling, so my bar has gotten some nips and tucks, if you will, nothing crazy, but still obvious changes. I'm trying to situate with the changes of the bar, more volume from the casino beverage servers, being scheduled by myself on busy days, and then coming in after a slacker bartender who doesn't see the importance of setting the next day up for success. I'm kinda over it. And everyone wonders why I don't go for the bartending line...please. Plus I need time to carry on my crazy couponing and clearance hunting. Just finished up our second garage sale (with Nikole) and I sold a little over $4000...the first one I did over $5000 in May. I also sell a little on eBay...profiting from my hobby! I'm tired though; sleep-deprived and burning both ends of the wick are starting to wear on me.

Well, that's the gist of our lives as of right now. Hopefully we'll all still be around and well to blog on for another year...I pray.
